While the process for making bubble hash has been known since at least the 1980s, it’s risen in popularity in the last decade as a chemical-free and natural alternative to many of the solvent-based cannabis concentrates currently available on the market.
Bubble hash is made using ice water extraction, a process that involves agitating cannabis in ice water to dislodge the trichomes for collection. The icy water helps preserve the resin quality during extraction process. The trichomes are collected from the various filter bags and air-dried into a soft, pliable concentrate.
Because cold temperatures are used to extract aromatic terpenes from the plant material, bubble hash retains a strong flavor and aroma profile. The aroma and flavor of bubble hash are largely dependent on the terpene profile of the strain that was used to create it.
